  • PROJECT DESCRIPTION

  • PROJECT INFORMATION

Kern High School District’s modernization and reconfiguration of the historic Griffith Field Stadium included preconstruction and construction services for new site amenities, new tack and football field, a grand exterior transformation to the existing structure to include the addition of new stadium seating and new structures to house a press box, restrooms and concessions.

Bakersfield High School’s original grandstand, built in 1923, featured a monolithic concrete structure for home seating with locker rooms and coaches office located inside the structure. The home grandstand was gutted for a 10,560 sf modernization including new coaches offices, boys and girls showers and locker rooms. Two mini-stadiums constructed of precast concrete stadium seating, North and South buildings were added to each side of the original grandstand. A 2,350 sf weight room was constructed to the North building addition and a new 2,350 sf equipment and training room was constructed to the South building addition.

The addition also included 3,000 sf of new concessions, restrooms and ticket booth. The oldest stadium in Kern County received a new visitors grandstand, new sod football field, new synthetic track to replace the original dirt track, new long jump, triple jump and shot put throwing pad and concrete walkways and curbing throughout.
