PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The modernization of Columbia Elementary School encompassed preconstruction and construction services for a campus wide reconfiguration of building improvements to meet current ADA and accessibility requirements.
Upgrades/improvements to the existing administration/library building, multi-purpose/kitchen building and four classroom/restroom buildings included removal and replacement of all exterior doors and hardware, windows, cabinets/countertops and sinks. Reconfiguration to existing staff and student restrooms, upgrade of multi-purpose kitchen to meet present and future campus needs as well as local health requirements. Replace existing fire alarm system with voice evacuation notification system, upgrade HVAC system with new energy efficient units, replace signage, and replace roofing system throughout with upgraded asphalt shingle roof system. The modernization also included two new relocatable classroom buildings.
Sitework consisted of the removal and replacement of existing concrete sidewalks, reconfigure existing accessible parking stalls and the addition of accessible passenger loading area.
Columbia Elementary School opened its doors on August 28, 1995, and is one of five schools that make up the Fruitvale School District.
